Bad breath is a common problem that can affect men and women of any age.
The most common misconception is that the unpleasant odor originates in the stomach - but in reality it originates in the oral cavity. It can be caused by poor oral hygiene, gingivitis, periodontosis or dry mouth. Certain foods, medicines and stress can also reduce saliva production and contribute to bad breath.
Bad breath is usually caused by bacteria in the oral cavity, which can be found in the interdental spaces and on the tongue. When bacteria break down food residues, for example, unpleasant smelling sulphur compounds are formed.
The zinc and chlorhexidine contained in the spray neutralise these sulphur compounds and prevent the formation of new ones.
